Rain Stops Play
Puckering were denied victory by the weather this week against normally tough rivals West Bean. Bean were batting first and had collapsed 54 all out before the heavens opened and play was suspended. Rachel again led the way with figures of 6-14. Compensation for the players was an early visit to the Village Idiot where Bean were further humiliated in a village darts contest.

National Village Championship
The success of the Irregulars in this season matches has prompted captain Nigel Morcombe to enter the club in the national Village Championship sponsored by The Cricketer magazine. Since the games start in April it is too late for the team to compete this year but Morcombe has high hopes for next year. "Some would say the girls have made the difference but really we've been improving over the last few years and I think we can be a real force next year," he noted. "They play the final at Lords, you know."

Apology
The Gazette wishes to apologize for any inaccuracies in last weeks reporting of the Irregulars cricket club. Their opponents were Wooden Forest and the fine catch mentioned was caught by Bert Walsham.
